The School

Farmington High School (FHS) is a rural public school with approximately 1420 students located in Farmington, New Mexico. Farmington is nestled in the San Juan River Valley, within sight of Coloradoís rugged San Juan Mountains and the desert highlands of Arizona and Utah. Farmington is the commercial center of the Four Corners Region with a population of 46,000 people. The city borders the Navajo Indian Reservation.

Farmington High School students have a traditional seven period schedule with 52 minutes of instruction, per class, per day. FHS offers 19 AP classes. Students may take one AP class their freshmen year, two their sophomore year and they may take unlimited AP classes their junior and senior years. All students are required to have a laptop for classroom and home use. The computer is provided by the school district.

Demographics

Thirty two percent of the students are Caucasian, 29 percent are Hispanic, 38 percent are Native American, and one percent are a combination of other races. Fifty two percent of the students are currently receiving free or reduced lunch. FHS is in a Title I School District.

  • 96 percent of the 2017 graduates were accepted to a college or university
  • Approximately $6.7 million in scholarship aid was awarded to the class of 2017
